eRFX is an electronic tool that allows procurement professionals to issue
and manage electronic requests for information (eRFIs) and requests for
proposal (eRFPs). Procurement professionals invite suppliers to submit
responses via the Internet on a secure Web site. Suppliers receive an e-mail
inviting them to participate in the process. This e-mail contains the
supplier user ID, password, and the URL. After receiving this e-mail and going
into the Web site suppliers can review and submit their responses.
To date, one of the benefits observed is that suppliers save time and money
because they do not have to send hard copy RFIs or RFPs via express mail.
Online negotiations is an electronic negotiation tool, which allows
suppliers to go to a remote Internet site at a specified time to negotiate
on a project. Procurement posts a good or service request on a secure
Web site and invites pre-qualified suppliers to negotiate during a set amount of time.
This is an invaluable tool that will help streamline and facilitate the
negotiation process to arrive at fair and reasonable value.
